Located on the eastern side of downtown Des Moines, the Iowa statehouse is unique as it is the only capital with 5 domes. 23K gold-leaf gilding center dome rises 275 ft tall. It is built in the Renaissance Revival Style. In the west hall is a model of the U.S.S. Iowa battleship, a perfect 1:48 scale model that weighs 1,390 lbs. 18ft 7in.
There was also a display of “ladies fashion” dolls model after the first ladies of Iowa (not pictured).
