Located right in the middle of Downtown Columbus, the Ohio statehouse has a fantastic skyline view when walking the grounds. There are several interesting statues to view, including a large monument to President William McKenley. Ohio is considered the state of presidents as 8 former presidents hail from Ohio. Built in the Greek Revival style, the statehouse doesn’t have a dome, but instead a cupola. This is best described as a dome within a squared or rounded tower, because domes would be Roman architecture. There were several interesting paintings in the halls. The statehouse also posses 1 of only 4 known busts in existence that President Abraham Lincoln sat for. Ohio recognizes it’s part in the Civil War with several monuments and statues to Generals Grant, Sherman and others.
